Dr. Paul Kim
- Managing Partner
Dr. Paul Kim is
Founding and Managing Partner of Parakletos @Ventures, LLC a Venture Capital
Firm located in Silicon Valley with investments in the US, China and
Korea. Before starting his own venture firm, Dr. Kim served as Executive
Vice President of Korea Technology Investment Corporation venture
firm and was Managing Partner for their US operation, KTIC, America.
Among several significant investments, Dr. Kim was the first venture investor in Silicon
Image, Inc (NSQD:SIMG), a semiconductor company which was the sixth
most successful IPO on Nasdaq in 1999. He was also an
investor in PowerComputer, a computer
company that was one of the fastest growing companies in the history of Silicon
Valley at that time and later was acquired by Apple Computer. Dr. Kim
is also a founding investor in Wumart
(HKSE: 8227.HK), a retail company in China that went public in 2003, as well as
Director and the Founding Venture Investor in GCT
Semiconductor which is currently shipping products to cellular handset and
Wi-Fi manufacturers. He was an early investor in Techwell
(NSDQ: TWLL) and his other investments include Anchiva,
Azalea Networks, Dgate
Technologies, ChinaWebEdu ,
ChinaWebex and Sohoware.
Prior to Parakletos and KTIC, Dr. Kim founded the Kim Law Firm in Silicon
Valley, a firm practicing law for American and Asian based companies, including
serving as Corporate Counsel for Samsung, LG and others. His success
in the technology industry led to his recognition in John Naisbitt's best
selling book, Megatrends Asia, as "the technology deal maker" between
Korea and Silicon Valley. Dr. Kim is also an elder at Yoido
Full Gospel Chruch in Seoul, Korea, with over 750,000 members led
by Pastor David Yonggi Cho as well as the Head Elder at Jubilee
Christian Center in San Jose, California. As well, he is on
the Board of the Living Stones
Foundation, an US Christian foundation with assets approaching $100 Million
and has been active politically serving on President George W. Bush's National
High Tech Advisory Committee.
