Our Investment Strategy
We like to take a very active role in actually creating our own opportunities in
which we invest by actually putting together talent, ideas and technology to create
the ideal startup. We begin by very proactively identifying a market that we feel has long
term, high growth potential and then we find an ideal management team and
technology to create a business
out of it. We are very involved in
the development of those companies in which we invest, often as Co-Founders, making sure the best team
possible is in place and usually with a technology that is very difficult to do,
very cutting edge, and very disruptive. We identify areas in technology
industries that are quickly growing into large markets and then start a company
that we believe has a good chance at
capturing a large portion of it. We place heavy emphasis on the entrepreneurs
themselves as well as the technology, often recruiting top businessmen and scientists from around the world. From that point on we like to work
very closely with the teams in which we invest,
in a hands on management style, because we feel we add a lot of value through our experience, contacts,
and connections to customers, providing strategic marketing and building strong
Asian partnerships.
Consequently, our investment focus is on companies that are in a very early stage,
often seed round to first round, where we feel we can play a major role and grow with the company as
Co-Founders, directors, and champions helping ensure success at each and every stage of growth.
We have a particular strength in working with Korean and Chinese entrepreneurs, companies
and technology, here in the United States. We often identify technology
that has been developed in Korea or China along with small teams of engineers from
there that are
developing technology that we can then assist in making into a successful
company. Because of the experience and knowledge we have of both the Asian
market as well as the US market we have developed a track record of
success following precisely this model.
When we invest, we do so with the desire
of being involved for the long run. Our investment size per deal ranges
anywhere from $100,000 to $10,000,000 and we reserve more for follow-on
investments, as well as often offering our limited partners to co-invest with us. We
like to work closely with those companies at least until we take those companies
public or through a Merger & Acquisition event.
In essence, we
want to be a “parakletos” to our portfolio companies; helping, counseling,
advocating and advising their teams, and thereby yielding superior returns to
our investors.
We have a passion to help Korean & Chinese talent, technology and
companies both in Silicon Valley and in Asia.
